I joined The New Yorker’s production team in 2021 and immersed myself in knowing every detail of the magazine and brand, from cover to crossword. My team builds the print layouts and digital content, creating story proofs and web previews. We assist managing editors in reviewing fit, layout, and tracking the issue close. This includes finalizing all components of a story package: article, print and digital layout, display, and media.
The production team at The New Yorker maintains a strict style-sheet and protocol throughout the magazine. In essence, I know the magazine, inside and out. We work across print and web, maintaining production protocols while evolving styles and workflows. When I first began at The New Yorker, I was responsible for quality reviews and troubleshooting. This included reviewing and signing off of final assets delivered to the printer and digital platforms.
Currently, as editorial production team’s Art Lead, I liaison for art and photo departments, tracking all print and digital-exclusive media, and reviewing images for quality and credits. I work on feature images for individual articles, as well as producing large portfolios pieces—such as Jelani Cobb and Nina Berman’s coverage of Columbia University’s protest, Michael Schulman’s profile on Bowen Yang, and Gillian Laub’s 29-piece coverage of famous New Yorkers’ living rooms. Some issues, I track and work on over 100+ art and photo pieces each week.
My work at The New Yorker has branched across the magazine and continues to grow. This includes writing documentation and conducting demos, both internally within the editorial production team and across various departments. I’ve also shadowed in the editorial, copy, social/PR, and fact-checking departments at The New Yorker.
This experience across different areas of the magazine has also allowed me to be involved across a variety of projects. I am part of a small, rotating team that creates the article lineup for the homepage. I also regularly produce the book recommendation hub, “The Best Books We Read This Week”—consistently ranked as one of the most visited stories on NewYorker.com. In 2025, I’ve helped to produce the Book Currents column, preparing web pages and media. Previously I served as production lead for The New Yorker’s 2024 Desk Diary.
